About this tool

Ask a class to "invent a character" and you'll get a lot of blank stares; this tool skips past that by generating a name, age, job, personality and a secret all at once. It's especially handy for character-study assignments, improv warm-ups, or role-play dialogues where students need someone to become before they can write or speak. Click again and the whole profile changes, so pairs or small groups can each work from a different character without any overlap. Generate one, give students five minutes to build a backstory around it, and see where the secret takes them.
