About this tool

Telling a student their vowel sound is slightly off rarely helps as much as letting them hear it for themselves, which is exactly what this tool sets up: play the model pronunciation, record the student saying the same word or phrase, then compare the two recordings back to back. It's built for the moment a student insists they're saying "thought" correctly and just needs the evidence. Use it one-on-one during a speaking assessment, or project it for the whole class to work on a shared trouble word together. Play both clips a couple of times — the difference usually becomes obvious before you say anything.
