About this tool

Some pronunciation problems are really listening problems in disguise, and this quiz is built to catch them: it plays one word from a minimal pair like "sheep" or "ship" and students have to identify which one they actually heard. It's a fast way to check whether a student who mispronounces a sound can even hear the difference in the first place, which changes how you'd address it. Run it as a five-minute listening check at the start of class, or use it to diagnose which specific sound contrast is giving a student trouble. A quick round can tell you more about a student's ear than a week of speaking practice.
