About this tool

The hardest sentence in any story is the first one, so this tool writes it for you: a spun-up opening line designed to pull a reader straight into the next sentence. Hand it to a class staring at a blank page and the excuse "I don't know how to start" disappears immediately, because the line is already there, waiting to be continued. It works equally well as a five-minute warm-up freewrite or as the actual opening of a longer assignment. Spin a new one for each row of desks and compare how differently the same first line grows once everyone finishes it.
