Red means stuck, yellow means unsure, green means got it — it's a system students already understand, which makes this one of the fastest ways to check understanding mid-lesson. Have students self-assess right after you explain a new concept, and watch the live tally show you how many are still red versus ready to move into green. It works well right after direct instruction, before independent practice, or any time you're wondering whether to slow down. When the tally leans red, that's your cue to reteach before pressing on.
