About this tool
Word stress is one of those things that's obvious to a fluent speaker and invisible to a learner until someone points it out, and that's exactly what this tool does: it splits a word into its syllables and marks which one carries the stress. Type in "photograph" next to "photographer" and suddenly the shifting stress pattern that trips up so many students is right there on screen. Project it while introducing new vocabulary so pronunciation gets taught alongside meaning, not as an afterthought. A few words a day is enough to start training students to notice stress on their own.
